I am just playing around with Plurk.com, which is another microblogging service. Personally i’m not a big fan of microblogging, but anyhow, i like Plurk. The creators have integrated a lot of little and nifty features (a timeline etc.).

Whow, just saw a presentation by Blaise Aguera y Arcas about  Microsoft’s Photosynth. What a amazing software!

… when booking your next flight? ;) There is a great project, which doesn’t focus on the money you pay for the flight, but the most important costs:

Real Costs is a Firefox plug-in that inserts emissions data into travel related e-commerce websites. The first version adds CO2 emissions information to airfare websites such as Orbitz.com, United.com, Delta.com, etc. Following versions will work with car directions, car rental, and shipping websites. Think of it like the nutritional information labeling on the back of food… except for emissions.

• Graphviz is an open source graph visualization software.
• The Macintosh port of the automated graph layout software, featuring a new document-based GUI, export to PDF and many more bitmap formats, full alpha transparency, native font and shapefile support and anti-aliasing.

RailRoad is a class diagrams generator for Ruby on Rails applications. It’s a Ruby script that loads the application classes and analyzes its properties (attributes, methods) and relationships (inheritance, model associations like has_many, etc.) The output is a graph description in the DOT language, suitable to be handled with tools like Graphviz.

After three years i’ll give Tinderbox another try and will play the next time a little bit with the 3.6.2 demo-version. My first impressions after this long period of time are ….. wait…. i will show it in a Tinderbox-Map to you ;)

Especially the “Geek charm” is a big pro. :)

Just found a nice little Flash/Amazon-Webservice Mashup. It shows pictures of products in a mosaic-style, and you are able to browse through them and can directly jump to Amazon. Really cool idea.

Dank der Riesenmaschine hab ich eben von Musicovery erfahren. Hier sind Musikstücke nach Stimmungen kategorisiert und schön in einem Graphen visualisiert. Nette Spielerei und anscheinend bin ich heute in richtiger Stimmung für Bob Marley. ;)

Really impressing Flight Patterns visualizations by Aaron Koblin.

Vorhin entdeckt, scheint es aber schon etwas länger zu geben. Ein Java-basierter Browser für RDF-Graphen: Welkin. RDF-Datei laden und *zack* erscheint der passende visualisierte Graph.

Wer gerade davor steht einen Graphen visuell darzustellen, kann sich hier inspirieren lassen.

Matt Biddulph hat ein kleines Add-On für die Welt von “Second Life” geschrieben. Es erlaubt die Einbindung eines virtuellen Bildschirms, der Bilder aus dem Flickr-System anzeigen kann.
Ehrlich gesagt, weiß ich nicht einmal genau was “Second Life” überhaupt ist, aber es sieht vielversprechend aus und ich steige wohl auch bald in diese virtuelle Realität ein. ;)

Hier findet man eine nette Sammlung einiger praktischer Tools zum Zeichnen von Diagrammen.
Dabei sind mir vor allem zwei Tools fuer Mac OS aufgefallen:

• ArgoUML: Tool fuer UML-Diagramme. Ist kostenlos und laeuft dank Java unter zahlreichen Systemen.
• OmniGraffle: Praktisches Werkzeug zum Zeichnen ala Visio. Sehr gute Mac-Oberflaeche.
